Cuddles...

For those of you who know Sawyer, know that she is NOT a cuddly girl. However, last night she went to bed with somewhat of a head cold/teething. I prepared myself for a LONG night, but our little girl was a angel. She went to bed at 8:30 and was up at 7:30.

However, she hasn't really left my side all day...and to be honest I haven't minded one bit. I love getting in cuddles with my baby who won't be the only baby in this house for much longer. (We, okay, I have been getting her 'big' girl room ready- which I'm excited to see how she adapts.)

So to cash in on the cuddles rather than just sitting around doing nothing, well okay, watching a movie is kind of sitting around doing nothing. Sawyer and I watched Julia & Julie! I must say it made me want to buy Julia Childs recipe book and head to the kitchen. Julia Childs inspired me to make Morgan a fantastic dinner and then I realized that I don't want to have to take Sawyer grocery shopping in her state. (Also I went online and gasped at the cost of her books. YIKES!)

Anyways, with lots of sniffles coming from a very groggy girl on my lap we spent the entire morning cuddling!! I think it is so great to be able to stay home with my baby. A girlfriend of mine just finished writing a beautiful blog about being a stay-at-home mom (which made my day even more- thanks Laura-you are an inspiration! Check out her blog post - http://hodgsonhome.blogspot.com/2011/08/something-to-ponder.html)

Spending the morning cuddling made me realize that we have been incredibly blessed that I do not have to work. Yes somedays I wouldn't mind getting out and expanding my brain beyond crayons and play dough but in the end staying at home is sheer and utter bliss. I am so grateful for the opportunity to stay at home and cuddle on a day like today. Having a sick, teething child is such a great blessing in disguise.

Pouty lip, ponytails, & peek-a-boo

Morgan had a guys games night...and this how Sawyer welcomed our first guest...

She wasn't too sure of all of the testosterone.

SOO happy!

Her first pony out the back!! Stayed in for about 10 minutes!

Nothing like playing peek-a-boo with her friend the giraffe!

I bet you won't be able to find me!

Yep! I'm pretty much Houdini!

crafting and cuteness

Sawyer and I had a productive crafting day on Friday. We colored, glued, painted, and painted and glued some more...well mostly she just colored...take a look-see...
Sawyer was just as busy crafting as I was. Morgan thinks it looks like someones guts, but I think it's more like Picasso.

I was busy painting and glueing...

so I could add the S to the wreath I knotted the night before

my 'workstation'
The finished product for Sawyer's big girl room!!

She had just finished her snack of peaches (from the Alexanders- she ate 50% of the flat) and decided to like the plate off...

it turned more into a game...
of peek-a-boo...sorta ;)

Babe #2...

as per requested...
Week 27

Forts and flips

Today we 'made' a fort. Easiest fort I've ever made. But it made for a half hour of entertainment!

A quick visit...

My parents came out for 4 days for a quick visit. Sawyer wasn't feeling the greatest as she now has one new tooth and her i-teeth are super swollen. I'm sure they'll be here soon.
Every visit requires being silly and fitting as many soothers in her mouth as possible.

So snugly the entire time Mom and Dad were here.

Grandma loved the marigold...

Grandpa did NOT!

"PEEEYOOOO!"

It's been a while...

Sawyer has been walking for just over a week now (10 days actually) and we are loving watching her explore the house from a new vantage point. She is loving walking and loves carrying toys from room to room. We are LOVING this new stage of her life! She is so full of life and exuberance.

Cheetos and Water

Such a healthy breakfast/snack choice.

At least there were apples invovled.

It was such a beautiful day to so swimming!

Just chillin'

SOOO happy

They got just a little thirsty

Big sister!

So after looking for a "big sister" shirt for a while now I found one on etsy that I thought would be easy to make. So after many scissor snips I have finally finished Sawyer's new Big Sister shirt.

Post cutting, pre stitching

All done!!

Can't WAIT for this day!
